Dr Rolando Perez

Dr Rolando Perez is a General Practitioner with more than 30 years of international medical experience across Cuba, Canada, the United States, Spain and New Zealand. He has 13 years in general practice, including six in New Zealand, with broad experience in general practice, urgent care and telemedicine.

Rolando began his career in neurosurgery. He completed medical school and a full neurosurgical residency in Cuba, did neuroscience research at the University of Montreal, worked as a Surgical First Assistant in tertiary hospitals in the United States, and later joined the Neurosurgical Department at Murcia University Hospital in Spain. He then moved into general practice and urgent care, first in Spain and then in New Zealand.

His clinical interests are men's health, preventive health, healthy ageing and evidence-based medicine. He takes a practical, individualised approach. He takes the time to understand each patient's concerns and circumstances, explains things clearly, and works with patients to build realistic plans that support their long-term health.

Rolando has cared for a wide range of communities, including Māori communities, and values culturally responsive care and continuity of care.
